Start Your Budget With These 3 Simple Steps

Updated: Apr 30, 2022

If you're looking to get your finances in order, a budget is a great place to start. And, it's not as difficult as you might think. In fact, you can get started with just a few simple steps.

First, take a look at your income. How much money are you bringing in each month? This is the starting point for your budget.

Next, list out your expenses. Start with the basics like housing, food, and transportation. Then, add in any other regular expenses like debt payments, child care, or healthcare.

Finally, compare your income and expenses. How much money do you have left over each month? This is your "budget." If you're in the red, you'll need to find ways to cut back on your spending or increase your income.

Now, you get to decide what will happen with the "budget"...will you spend what's left on eating out and on those last minute sales... or will you be intentional about investing in yourself and put the leftover into an investment account or use it to increase your emergency fund. The choice is yours!

With a budget in place, you'll be on your way to financial freedom.
